Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal an enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in width overall consisting of a buff disc encircled by a crimson motto scroll extended at the top of the device to accommodate three gold stars and carrying the motto "SUSTAIN THE BATTLE FORCE" below in gold letters, overall an American eagle in gold with wings extended outside the scroll and carrying in his talons a mechanic's wrench and a key, also gold.

Symbolism
The eagle, representing the United States Army, carries a wrench and a key as symbols of the main functions of the unit:  maintenance, supply and services.  Crimson is the color associated with supply and gold is symbolic of excellence and achievement.  The Army components which perform the unit's mission are the Active Army, the Army Reserve, and the Army National Guard, represented by the three gold stars.

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 1 August 1985.
